THE CHALLENGE

Silvester & Company was engaged to find the first Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for a publicly traded global leader in medical devices. This pivotal role required an experienced HR strategist to guide the company through significant growth and transformation. The new CHRO needed to drive change management, elevate the global HR function, and preserve the company’s revered culture.

Chess pieces on a checkered board.

THE STRATEGY

Recognizing the critical nature of this search, we collaborated closely with the CEO and Board. Our initial step involved in-depth discussions with each stakeholder to define the ideal candidate profile. The Board sought a trusted business partner for the CEO who could also challenge and refine existing processes and organizational design. The CEO wanted a leader who would honor the company’s cultural legacy while implementing deliberate, thoughtful change.

Armed with a clear understanding of the requirements, we launched a nationwide search. We targeted candidates from both within and adjacent to the medical device industry who had experience in large global organizations and successful transitions to smaller, founder-led companies. We sought a professional who could balance the Board’s strategic goals with the CEO’s cultural values, driving change with collaborative and patient leadership.
